The Brabham Repco BT 24-1

Powered by a 330hp Repco V8, Brabham developed the BT24 for the 1967 Formula 1 season. Jack Brabham was paired with team mate Denny Hulme in the #2 car, and the pair managed three 1-2 finishes, netting Hulme the seasons Drivers Championship with Brabham a close second in the points, winning the Brabham team their 2nd Constructors Championship.
![]() | Pattos Place has a great decal set for the Brabham Repco's. Notice the GoodYear decals available in this set for tires. Extra decals will be used on the Lola and Daytona Coupe re-creations. As mentioned before, the roll bar from the Ford Mark IV's wheel donor car will be used on this re-creation. A standard British Racing Green should do the trick on this one, most likely Tamiya TS-9 BRG. The Brabahm pictured below was purchased for $4 on eBay, including delivery. It required a new windscreen as well, using reproductions available from The Red Line Shop. |
It has been difficult trying to determine which wheels will work best on this resto project. There is a good set available from the 100% Collectible series of Hotwheels that are being considered, from the Shelby Cobra 427 S/C. It features a set of narrower front wheels, with a wider set on the rear. Another set of wheels with real rubber tires are being considered as well, sourced from the sprint cars of the same series. | ![]() |
The Brabham is pictured here in the mock-up stage, using the standard Matchbox "vintage" style wheels with knock-offs. It the rear wheels were slightly bigger, they would be ideal. Regardless, they fit nicely, and will probably do the trick. A rechroming method will be attempted on the engine/exhaust pipe piece. The procedure is detailed on the Hotwheels Redline Restoration site, also listed on the Links page. The body is also shown after the paint and decal work was finished.
